Idiostyle Properties of «Yellow Press»
Abstract
Research Methodology. Text analysis method, observation and descriptions were applied in a study.
Results. Conceptual and historical sphere of research was considered. It was revealed that the popularity of «yellow» press has not diminished but it has received a new incentive for development due to modern needs of the readers and to the development of online space. It has been proven that the increase on the number of non-verbal components in the text and expansion of their functions in text information content organizing are connected with the creative search for new effective means of realization of communicative-pragmatic tasks and their internal adaptation processes that take place inside the language system and reflect in the practice of the «yellow press». The article deals with the role and functions of non-verbal stylistic means that function in modern «yellow» press texts. The author notes the power of the non-verbal semiotic system, which is a source of reflection of the meaning of the text. In the written text, non-verbal units are intonation markers, means of simplifying the visual perception of the text and a special meaning-making system of non-verbal signs. The results of our intelligence can be used to further explore the various aspects of verbalizers of speech manipulation in the «yellow» press as a separate means of its implementation. We consider the most attractive for further linguistic intelligence as a study of deformation as a powerful lever of speech manipulation in the context of the pragmatic orientation of the «yellow» press.
Novelty. Investigation of «yellow press» transformation under the influence of information technologies. An attempt to consider the role and functions of non-verbal stylistic devices that function in contemporary texts of «yellow» press has been made.
Practical significance. The results of our research can be used for further investigations of various aspects of speech manipulations in «yellow» press.
