Drama іn а Television Documentary Film
Abstract
Research methodology. The basis of the research is interdisciplinary, informational and systematic approaches. In this research, the following methods were used: historical, analysis and generalization – to understand the main principles of constructing media text in the documentary script.
Results. In order to interest the viewer, the creators of the documentary film need to understand that the narrated story on the screen should be depicted with dramatic plot and solutions. Thus, any script for any movie must include drama. The playwrighting is the turning point in the plot, where the hero is in conflict and conflicts in its path, because calm and measured life is not an outline hook, which can attract the viewer for half an hour. Such conflicts are divided into internal and external, and on the subject: a man against a man, a man against the environment in which he is located, and the inner conflict. In its turn, drama consists of dramatic units that contain dramatic hits – these are the turning points when a hero faces a certain problem or conflict, understands and rethinks everything that has happened in his life. When constructing a dramatic structure in the narrative, everything needs to be deployed around the “plan of actions”. It includes items such as that the hero receives, makes and reaches. This dramatic turn comes up only when the hero realizes the problem and tries to solve it. In addition, each story is created on the basis of three actions: the first act is a plot, the second – the escalation of the situation (conflicts, new obstacles, etc.) and the third action that intensification the existing confrontation, and then the solution is how to overcome all the problems created on the path of the main character. The final element of drama in the script of a documentary is the final thesis, which is announced at the end of the film. It aims to sort things out and to set viewers to some reflection after watching a movie.
Novelty of the research is that for the first time in the Ukrainian science the main structural elements of the construction of drama on the example of modern documentary films used by modern documentaries in the creation of their media product, so that their films are attractive to the viewer.
