The Quality of the Text Content of the Culinary Site (on the Example of the Resource http://cookery.com.ua)

Abstract


Research Methodology. Method of text materials analysis, observation and description were applied in the study.

Results. Various websites of entertaining, educational and practical use character, resources devoted to different hobbies of their users, the ones that give information of household aspect are extremely popular in the Internet space. One of the most frequently inquired themes is culinary. We set the task to evaluate the quality of text content provided by this web resource. In particular, we investigated grammatical level and punctuation literacy of text materials of the website http://cookery.com.ua.  All texts appeared to be automatic translation from Russian. Therefore almost all sentences comprise different mistakes. The most common ones are inconsistencies in gender and case, invalid use of prepositional constructions, improper numeral formation, confusion of temporal forms of the verb, use of one inclination of the verb instead of other. There are also punctuation errors on the website: extra commas and missing commas where they should be in accordance with the rules.

Novelty. Little attention is paid to websites that belong to the category of groundswell interest by the scientists. Accordingly, researches that would analyze the quality of the text material of the culinary content were not found. It determined the relevance of the investigation.
