Abstract
Research Methodology. During the research, the methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization, comparative for determining tendencies in the design of wimmelbooks and their division into formats and subjects were used.
Results. The article proposes the division of wimmelbooks, represented in the repertoire of Ukrainian children’s publishing houses, in formats and subjects. The y took a worthy place in the repertoire of such publishers as: Vivat, Vydavnytstvo Staroho Leva, Artbooks, Ranok, BookChef, Chytarium etc. Their chief editors point out that wimmelbooks are among the most popular among their products. Such editions first come out in large format (usually 340х260 mm), and only later – in smaller, pocket (mini-wimmelbooks – 11,5х14 mm). The publications of the Vydavnytstvo Staroho Leva with attachments in the form of special skeletons: What lies in the body?, What lies in the woods?, What lies in the sea? are noted. According to the subjects of the wimmelbooks, presented in the Ukrainian book market, it is possible to divide the following: geographical space, in particular national; life of people in the city; space of nature; fantastic world; holidays In Ukraine, chimblems of foreign authors and illustrators prevail. However, domestic publishers are already making the first steps in mastering the technology of preparing such kind of publications for children, BookChef offers Legends of the Castles of Ukraine by Kateryna Demyanchuk and Yulia Yasinskaya, Legends of Kiev by Kateryna Demyanchuk and Victoria Dunaeva, Legends of Lviv by Kateryna Demyanchuk and Bella Rogacheva. This is very important, since national consciousness is already formed with little help, in particular through a book.
Novelty. Basing on the analysis of abecedaries of Ukrainian publishing companies, such as Vivat, Vydavnytstvo Staroho Leva, Artbooks, Ranok, BookChef, Chytarium etc., proposes the division of publications according to formats and subjects.
The practical significance. Research results can be used in editorial and publishing work at children publications.
